Many people are choosing to make their funeral and
burial arrangements for themselves, a relative, or
friend in advance. Preplanning, or pre-arrangement
of a funeral allows you to determine how your final arrangements will be carried out, thus reducing family
stress. When you pre-plan you can make more informed decisions with your family. Pre-planning can also reduce funeral costs.
When you make pre-arrangements for yourself, you will personally choose the service options you want, choose
the funding options, and complete all paperwork in
advance.
Service Options:
Service Options should be considered as this will be
the place where all your friends and relatives gather
for emotional support at a very trying time. We want
you to be able to provide this climate through the
Corey-Ragan Funeral Home. You may choose from
the following services:
•Complete funeral services include a family and
public viewing, and a church or funeral home service followed by a graveside service at a cemetery.
•Cremation services include a family and public
viewing, and a church or funeral home service
followed by the transfer of the deceased to the
crematory. After cremation the deceased can be
buried, scattered properly, or placed in an urn for
your safe keeping.
Cremation services may also include a family and
public viewing followed by a crematory chapel
service. After cremation the deceased can be
buried, scattered properly, or placed in an urn for
your safe keeping.
•Direct Cremation services provide for a memorial
service only at a church or funeral home. A
memorial service is usually performed with no
body present. A private viewing for immediate family
can be held at the funeral home prior to cremation
if the family so chooses. After cremation the deceased
can be buried, scattered properly, or placed in an
urn for your safe keeping.
Please note that the Corey-Ragan Funeral Home
will take care of all of the necessary details of the
funeral and all arrangements needed. We contact the
clergy, church and cemetery; secure all permits needed, arrange music, place obituary, aid in locating cemetery space if needed, and help with transportation for family members.
Pre-Payment Funding Options: •A prepaid funeral trust fund account can be opened
on your behalf using the New Jersey Prepaid Funeral
Trust Fund. Our funeral home is a member of the
New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association, and
as such we can open this trust fund account for you.
Once the trust fund paperwork is complete, we then
forward the completed paperwork, along with your
check to the Trust Fund. The check is immediately
deposited into the Fund and an acknowledgement is forwarded to you. You will then receive an annual
summary from the Trust Fund which advises you
of your principal and interest earned as well as an IRS
letter needed for tax reporting.
The interest received will vary with money market
rates, and your money will only be placed in FDIC
insured bank deposits.
The funds placed in the New Jersey Prepaid Funeral
Trust Fund are immediately available upon death for payment of funeral expenses.
All monies are totally revocable (refundable). To
qualify for SSI, Medicaid, or General Assistance,
you may require an irrevocable account.
•Assign an existing life insurance policy or policies
to the funeral home. This can be done thru Sure
Trust.
•Purchase funeral insurance or an annuity.
(The NJSFDA has no programs that use this option.)
You can prepay a funeral using all of the above ways
or any combination of them.
