ANASTASIA BETTY PREGO of the Colonia section of Woodbridge died Tuesday December 11, 2018 at
RWJUH @ Rahway. She was 83. Born in Elizabeth, Mrs. Prego resided in Colonia for most of her life. She was a 1953 graduate of Battin High School, Elizabeth. Prior to her retirement in 1982 she worked for Able Metro Moving & Storage as a Bookkeeper in Linden for 5 years, and prior to that she was a Office Manager for AGA in Elizabeth for many years. Mrs. Prego was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church, Rahway. Betty enjoyed going on day trips, also loved Flea Markets. Predeceased by her husband Anthony; 2 brothers Michael & Stephen Wolar; 1 sister Anne Barber.
Surviving are a daughter Andrea Kobelas and her husband Wayne; her Goddaughter Patricia Todd;
1 granddaughter Harlee; several Nieces & Nephews; and her dog Cocoa, and she was loved by many friends.
Funeral service will be Saturday 9:15 am from the COREY RAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 259 Elm Ave., Rahway thence to St. Thomas the Apostle Byzantine Catholic Church for a 10:00am Funeral Service. Entombment St. Gertrude Cemetery, Colonia. Visitation Friday 3:00pm to 7:00pm. Paratas services 6:00pm at FH

LINDA M. (Kolesar) FREEMAN passed away November 20th, 2018 at home. She was 54. Born in Rahway, Linda resided in Rahway for most of her life moving to Avenel 15 yrs. ago. Surviving are her 2 sons Mark A. Freeman and Jason J Freeman; her parents George & Elaine "Cookie" Kolesar; a sister Laurie Ann Huxford and her husband Robert; 3 grandchildren Georgia, Claire and Griffin; 2 nieces Megan & Carly Huxford.
Arrangements have been entrusted to The COREY RAGAN FUNERAL HOME, 259 Elm Avenue, Rahway.

Eileen (Denburg) Kusnetz - 85 - Monroe Twp.
EILEEN (Denburg) KUSNETZ of Monroe Twp. formerly of Rahway died Wednesday October 31, 2018 at RWJUH at New Brunswick. She was 85. Born in Newark she resided in Rahway for most of her life moving to Monroe Twp. to resided with her son Andy. Prior to her retirement she worked as a School Crossing Guard for the Rahway Board of Education for 35 yrs. working at the corner of St. George's Ave and central Avenue. She was a member of the Monroe Senior citizen group. Predeceased by her daughter Marilyn Kusnetz. Surviving are her son Andrew "Andy" Kusnetz; 2 grandchildren Sgt. Matthew Kusnetz
US Air Force and Marissa Kusnetz.

Doris Fitzgerald - 93 - Rahway
DORIS FITZGERALD 93 a life long resident of Rahway passed away on October 10th, 2018 at RWJUH @ Rahway after a courageous 2 year battle. Doris worked for Bell Atlantic for 30 yrs., retiring in 1985. She was predeceased by her parents Charles & Bessie Seaman and the love of her life husband William "Billy Fitz" after 23 yrs they are arm & arm again. Surviving are
her son Ted and his wife Susan, grandchildren Keith Fitzgerald, Katie Vieni and her husband Oscar, Laureen Costello and her husband Mike: Great Grandchildren Olivia and Alexandria Vieni and Aiden & Ryan Costello: a brother Merton Seaman: also by many nieces, Nephews
and friends. Doris was a generous and caring person who lived for her Family. At her request services were private. To those who knew her please raise a glass of RED WINE and toast her life. Rest in Peace mom. Say hi to Dad and I'll see you when I see you.
Anne (Ragan) McGurr - 96 - Rahway
Anne (Ragan) McGurr, age 96 passed away peacefully on Wednesday October 24th, after a brief illness.
She was born on September 30, 1922 in Jersey City to the late John and Mary Ragan. A graduate of Lincoln
High School in Jersey City, she worked at Western Eletric in Kearny before he marriage. Anne resided in
Rahway for the past 61 years and was a parishioner at Divine Mercy Roman Catholic Parish in Rahway formerly
known as St. Mary's.
Anne was the beloved wife of the late Joseph A McGurr, and the loving mother of Gail Mandracchia and her
husband John, Joseph, John and Gregory McGurr and his wife Lisa. She was a devoted grandmother to Sean
McGurr and his wife Jessica and Ryan McGurr and his wife Amylynn, and Katherine, Christopher, Robert and
Carolyn Mandracchia. She was a dear great-grandmother to Colin and Emma McGurr. Anne was a special sister to Michael Ragan and his wife Jean, and the late John Ragan, Mary Ragan and John "Jack" Ragan Jr.. Caring sister-in-law to Maryann Ragan. Also surviving are many nieces & nephews and her best friend , Ruth Carroll. She leaves behind her faithful feline companion, Cloudy. Anne enjoyed cooking, reading, painting, and her monthly trips to Atlantic City. However, she was the happiest when spending time with her family.

Margaret Schlauch Brown - 99 - Rahway
Margaret Schlauch Brown 99, passed away at home September 12, 2018 surrounded by her loving daughters. Margaret was born 1918 and lived most of her life in Elizabeth until she met and married the love of her life James Brown and moved to Rahway. She was predeceased by her devoted husband Jim in 2006, her twin brother Richard and her other siblings Fred, Herman and Louise. She was a wonderful wife and mother, a hard worker and was known for her devotion to her family and her good cooking. She is survived by her 3 daughters Betty Lou Findeis and her husband Jack of Brooksville, Florida, Lorraine Nelson and her husband Jim of Toms River, Nancy Skolnick and her husband Tom of Cranford, many grandchildren and great/great Grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be private.

Thomas K. Schimmel, Sr., 85, of Flemington, NJ, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018, surrounded by his loving family.
Visitation is Thursday, August 30, 2018, from 3pm to 8pm at Corey & Ragan Funeral Home, 259 Elm Ave., Rahway, NJ 07065. Funeral mass will be held on Friday, August 31 at 10am at Divine Mercy Parish (formerly St. Mary's Parish) on Central Ave., Rahway, NJ 07065. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery on Madison Hill Road in Rahway, NJ.
Born on December 26, 1932 to Margaret and William Schimmel, Tom was the youngest of six children raised in Rahway, NJ. He attended St. Mary's grammar school, where he repeated first grade, to wait for Ellen Conway, his future wife. They eventually married on April 28. 1956.
After graduating from Rahway High School, Tom served in the U.S. Army in Korea, where he attained the rank of Sergeant. He was always very proud of his service to the United States. Upon returning to the US, he married Ellen Conway and they raised four children on Whittier St. in Rahway, where they lived for many years. Upon retirement, Tom and Ellen moved to Barnegat and eventually to Flemington, NJ.
Tom started his career sweeping floors at the Rahway Water Department, rising through the ranks to become the Superintendent of the Rahway Water Department as well as Rahway Public Works, from which he retired. He was very well-respected as an honest, fair man and boss.
Tom enjoyed volunteering in such activities as cooking for St. Mary's Bingo, Mother Seton Bingo, friends, family, neighbors, and especially for his annual Christmas Parties. As a man of great faith, he also volunteered for Nocturnal Adoration at St. Mary's in Barnegat, and was always quick to lend a hand to anyone who was sick or in need. He coached Rahway Little League Baseball, was a registered Girl Scout, as well as Boy Scout. Tom was an amateur artist, music lover, loved telling corny jokes, spending time in the Poconos, at Barnegat Bay. as well as with his family and friends. He was a creative thinker, hard worker, honest to a fault and willing to help anyone. He loved entertaining with his siblings and his own children. Tom was always the go-to guy when you needed advice or an answer. It wasn't uncommon for his children to come home and find one of their friends already there, either in their welcoming kitchen or on their front steps, chatting it up with Tom and Ellen.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, his brother Billy, sisters, Margaret, Mary and Kate.
He will long be remembered lovingly by his wife Ellen, of 62 years; his sister, Claire, his four beloved children, Monica (Steve) Klawunn, Tom, Jr. (Barbara) Schimmel, Susan Bacigalupo, and Charlene Seifert. He will also be remembered by his grandchildren Kathryn Klawunn, Steven (Lis) Klawunn, Ellen Klawunn, TJ Schimmel, Michael Schimmel, Bobby Schimmel, Nicholas Bacigalupo, Alexandria Seifert, Joseph Seifert, and two great-grandchildren, Jacob Bayard and Ian Behn.
